The Cariboo-91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ School District is on the beautiful traditional and unceded territories of the Secwepemc, Tsilhqot'in, and Dakelh Nations. 91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ is fortunate to work with the Three Nations of the area which to serve approximately 1400 Indigenous students and their families. The department is led by the District Principal of Indigenous Education with the Director of Instruction. The mandate of the department is to ensure the success of Indigenous students and help the District act to further Truth and Reconciliation.  students. 

The First Nations Education Council (FNEC) is a committee of the Board that includes representatives from one Dakelh Band, five Secwepemc Bands, six Tsilhqot'in Bands, the Cariboo-91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ Métis Association, Cariboo Friendship Society, and representatives from district employee groups. FNEC makes recommendations on how to allocate funds from the Provincial Aboriginal Target and moves the education agenda forward for Indigenous students. 

91Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ holds Local Education Agreements with many of the First Nations communities. The District, the Provincial Ministry of Education, and First Nations communities have signed Enhancement Agreements to continue to work as a team to improve the education of First Nation students.
